HCD Social Media Strategy
As the Hillyard neighborhood worked to implement economic recovery projects, I contributed by expanding its reach on social media to build community awareness and participation. My strategy blended business recognition, event promotion, project updates, collaboration, and storytelling.
Messaging for a Diverse Audience, with a Targeted Goal
This project demonstrates my ability to reach target audiences and expand communication across social media platforms. My strategy was coordinating visuals with clear messaging and timing, while leveraging platform features such as story voting, tagging, collaboration, and highlights with the right accounts to increase organic reach.
Tools Used:
Trello and Google Workplace used for content approvals
For video editing: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and sometimes Splice/Canva for quick reels
Photography & Video capturing: Sony a7iii cameras, Zhiyun gimbal, DJI Microphones, and lighting equipment when necessary
Surveys: Jotform, Squarespace, Google Drive depending on project needs
Hillyard Creative District: Designation Celebration Video
Over the course of several months, I collected footage of the Hillyard neighborhood to document projects, history, and the people of Hillyard. In September, we coordinated a special celebration event with Greater Spokane Incorporated, the Mayor’s office, City of Spokane, and Hillyard project leaders who spoke on behalf of the community. I recorded those speeches, and used visuals that I had to create this authentic celebration video – so that others could better understand the goals of the designation, and celebrate as a community.
This work demonstrates my ability to support communications by being proactive, having boots on the ground when needed, and managing my files and time for efficiency to communicate while news is most relevant.
