Hello, Spokane Transit Authority!

This collection of my work aligns best with the Communications Specialist role at STA. It highlights navigating systems, communicating with partners, translating data, and creative storytelling that resonates with real people. I look forward to discussing them further with you in person on Wednesday!

Thank you,

  • When the Hillyard Event Committee’s planning for Third Thursday became more complex, I realized guests would need guidance to fully experience it.

To support that, I created both digital and print materials, including organized lists of activities, exhibits, and locations with a digital map option to help attendees easily plan their route in a way that worked best for them.

While the artist exhibits were the main feature, another goal of the Hillyard Creative District was to support neighborhood businesses. To encourage interaction, I turned the guide into a passport for guests to collect stamps from business owners.

After the event, we sent surveys to attendees, business owners, and committee members and received extremely positive feedback on the guidance and balanced traffic at all stops.

  • Artist Cards – Encouraged attendees to interact with artists/vendors beyond the event (View PDF)

Event Guides – Served as an event guide, but also as passports to encourage attendee interaction with businesses (View PDF)

A-Frame Signage – Created awareness of branding and event boundaries. They were created with a QR code to an interactive map that could be updated live, making it adaptable for future events (View PDF)

Margins intentionally created for printed materials so they could be printed in-house and reduce cost + labor of trimming.

Digestible Information & Answering “Why”

  • For grassroots efforts of the Hillyard Creative District, it was important to form partnerships and invite local organizations and businesses to support events. My goal was to take all of the information and organize it into bite-size sections for better flow and easier decision making.

The information needed to clearly show what was available to sponsor, the cost, and what sponsors would receive in return.

The landing page focused on smaller, clearly defined sponsorship options to encourage smaller businesses to participate. The sponsorship packet was available as a resource for broader partnerships interested in title-level contributions, but the primary goal was to keep opportunities available to smaller businesses first and foremost.

  • The overall design complemented the promotional materials of the event and aligned with the Creative District Launch campaign. The design (See sample) focused on photography I had taken during the prior months, highlighting the community as a whole rather than one specific entity.

Hand-drawn illustrations were included as a homage to the branding of past Third Thursday campaigns.

Translating Data into Stories

Case Study: Global Credit Union Foundation Annual Report Video, December 2024

I wrote the script, designed graphics, filmed b-roll, and produced the final video.

  • Like all organizations, the annual report is a required document, but that information does not have to exist just for compliance. My role was to translate it into a short highlight video which helped people understand why the information mattered and to celebrate the organization's accomplishments.

I sourced supporting visuals by creating new graphics, using b-roll footage from past filming, and gathering photos from our shared digital asset manager. This demonstrates my ability to be resourceful and make the most of what is available when projects do not have a production budget.

  • For more than 20 years, the Global Credit Union Foundation has supported charitable organizations in communities served by Global Credit Union. These organizations provide much-needed services to children, veterans, active duty military and their families, as well as local food banks and pantries working to help fight hunger. Since 2003, the Foundation has given more than $4.5 million to these kinds of organizations across Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, and Washington.

Because of the generosity of Global employees, volunteers, members, and our corporate partners, the Foundation was able to help more than 40 community partners this year. In turn, those partners were able to lend a helping hand to those in need, making our communities more resilient and helping to shape them into exceptional places to live and work.

We look forward to the year to come with hope and excitement as we continue to grow. Thank you for continuing to support the Global Credit Union Foundation in its efforts to help our communities thrive.

Coordinating with Community Partners

Case Study: Global Credit Union Golf Tournament Video, July 2023

I filmed b-roll, conducted interviews, and produced the final video. (Video begins at :40)

  • Global Credit Union hosts golf tournaments in each market, inviting partners to participate in an event that raises money for selected beneficiaries. This video was important not only to explain the goals of the tournament, but also to highlight the missions of the organizations benefiting from it and encourage sponsor participation in future events.

My role was to correspond and coordinate with beneficiaries to film interviews, capture b-roll footage of their environments to provide context beyond the golf course, and document activities, partners, and sponsors on the event day. This demonstrates my ability to coordinate with partners and executives, as well as film in an uncontrolled, fast-paced environment.

This was part of a very short business trip with a packed schedule, so I had to be very organized to make sure it was all captured correctly the first time.

  • Production Equipment: Sony a7iii cameras, Zhiyun gimbal, DJI mics, DJI Mini 2 drone, and an Apple AirTag to track the golf carts of people who needed to be interviewed.

Post-Production: Adobe Illustrator to create lower-thirds, Adobe After Effects for animation, Adobe Audition to reduce wind and background noise from interview audio, and Adobe Premiere for compiling and editing footage
